Before you turn on the tap, every drop goes through a lot. We maintain and protect over 38,000 kilometres of pipework – that's further than a trip to Australia and back.
Our region is not only the direst (on average, we get a third less rainfall than the rest of England) but also the fastest growing – with more homes being built every day.
Our teams work around-the-clock to maintain and improve the network of pipes, pumps and sites. To help save every drop, we use the latest technology like satellites (the same technology as NASA) to help find and fix leaks before they become a problem.
And this work never stops, our teams carry out regular mains water flushing and water pressure management across the region – keeping showers steady and taps flowing.
Investing in infrastructure for the future
We’re always looking for new ways to keep our taps flowing, especially for future generations.
We're investing in one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK, building hundreds of connecting pipeline to make sure our drier parts of the region are always connected with water now and for generations to come.
Life revolves around water – it’s the most precious resource we have, that’s why we’re also investing in other ways to save water both now and for the future.
