Anglian Water is not a statutory consultee for planning applications, however we proactively provide informative comments on foul and surface water proposals for major planning applications to the Local Planning Authority for their consideration.
To ensure a sustainable drainage strategy is prepared that mitigates the risk of flooding downstream we may recommend to the Local Planning Authority that a foul and/or surface water drainage condition is applied if permission is granted.
Concerned about growth in your village or town?
If you are a resident concerned about the impact of a proposed development in your area and would like Anglian Water to assess a drainage strategy on a planning application, please contact us on 07929 786955 or email at planningliaison@anglianwater.co.uk outlining your concerns, and provide the Local Authority name along with the planning application reference number. Whilst we cannot provide you with site specific information, we will carry out a drainage capacity assessment on our network and send our formal response to the Local Planning Authority.
Please note that assessments do not take in consideration historical or current operational issues such as blockages in your area. Such issues need to be reported to our Operations Team at any time on 0345 714 5145 and we'll arrange for a technician to visit the area.
Should you have concerns regarding the water supply or sewerage services in your area, please call our team on 03457 145 145.
